Meet safely
Choose a busy, well-lit public place, preferably in daylight. Tell someone where you are going or bring a friend. Avoid sharing your dorm room or home address. In an emergency, call 911.
Inspect before paying
Check the item and test electronics before paying. Never send gift cards, cryptocurrency, verification codes, or a deposit to prove you are serious. Be cautious of overpayments, courier stories, and links that ask you to sign in outside UniSell. UniSell does not offer buyer protection or escrow.
What you can list
Lawful personal belongings such as textbooks, furniture, clothing, electronics, and bikes. Use your own photos and disclose damage. Remove personal information and reset devices before transfer.
Prohibited items and activity
No weapons, ammunition, drugs, alcohol, tobacco or vaping products, prescription products, stolen or counterfeit goods, recalled or unsafe products, animals, sexual services, financial products, identity documents, account credentials, or academic cheating services. Do not sell exam answers or unauthorized course materials. Commercial bulk selling and high-volume resale are not supported.
Report a problem
Open a listing and choose “Report listing.” Include a clear description; do not include unnecessary sensitive information. An administrator can remove the listing or suspend an account. For disputes about an item or payment, contact the seller and payment provider. Reports do not guarantee reimbursement.
University email is one layer of protection
Someone who can access a UTD inbox may be a student, employee, alumnus, or an unauthorized user of that inbox. Verification is not a background check or a guarantee of trustworthiness.
